Cloud Obsession

After watching the movie Mr Turner, my fascination with clouds has become an obsession. Living rural means our skies are open and vast, which is a beautiful luxury. Turner was an incredible painter who could capture the spiritual moment of a sunset. His paintings make you stand still and contemplate.

Childhood Inspiration

Cy Twombly once said, “My line is childlike but not childish. It is very difficult to fake… to get that quality you need to project yourself into the child’s line. It has to be felt.” Here lies the true inspiration for my childhood memory paintings.

Images I love

Georgia O’keeffe’s flower paintings have been my constant go to inspiration for my Emergence Series. Her sense of colour and observation helps me to understand my need to immerse myself deeply into the workings of an organic object , like a flower. Once I have the initial drawing I disregard the still life and allow myself to explore the medium of charcoal and paint.
